The Effect of Transverse abdominis Muscle Thickness Changes on Walking with Abdominal drawing-in and Lumbar stabilization Exercise

Abstract

|
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of walking with abdominal drawing-in and lumbar stabilization exercise on transverse abdominis muscle thickness
Method: 20 healthy adults in their twenties were divided into two groups : walking with abdominal drawing-in exercise, lumbar stabilization exercise. The exercises were conducted for 30minutes, 5 times a week(for 4 weeks). Thickness of transverse abdominis was measured before the training and 4 weeks after the intervention. Comparison of the dependent variable for each group was calculated by paired t-test. Comparison among the two groups was calculated by independent t-test.
Result: All two groups had significant difference in thickness of transverse abdominis(p<.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the inter-group analysis.
Conclusion: Walking exercise with abdominal drawing-in and lumbar stabilization exercise are expected to improve of thickness of transverse abdominis.
